Lucky for you guys, we were on set while they filmed the final season last year, so we made sure to squeeze every last bit of scoop and nostalgia out of the cast. Here’s part one of our exclusive sit-down with the stars of OTH where they talk about saying goodbye to Tree Hill and what’s ahead for their characters…

What’s Austin’s favourite OTH episode?

Over the last eight seasons, One Tree Hill has had its fair share of drama, heartbreak, death and crazy plotlines (the dog ate Dan’s new heart!). As we prepare to say goodbye to the long-running CW series, TVGuide.com caught up with the cast as they shared with us their favorite episodes.

Austin Nichols (Julian Baker)
Favorite Episode: ”Darkness on the Edge of Town” ( Season 8 )

“It was really challenging to watch your [on-screen] fiancé almost die in front of you. That was hard and satisfying in the end, but it’s scary to go to those places. Plus: It was action-packed, and I’m a guy!”

Find out what more of the cast’s favourite episodes were here.

TV Guide – Did One Tree Hill’s Creator Shoot an Alternate Ending Again?

Austin recently spoke to TV Guide about the possible end of One Tree Hill. Make sure to follow the link for a fantastic video of the interview.

One Tree Hill star Austin Nichols says that fans are constantly asking him if the show will be back for be another season, and although an official announcement hasn’t been made yet, he’s confident the show’s creator is prepared.

“Mark [Schwahn] did the finale and I think he might’ve shot an alternate ending — one to tease another season and one to close off the show,” Nichols, who plays Julian Baker, tells TVGuide.com.

Zap2It: Austin Nichols steps behind the camera for a walk down memory lane

Another article regarding Austin’s directional debut:

Austin Nichols has played film director Julian Baker on “One Tree Hill” since 2008, but it wasn’t until this year that he took his own turn behind the camera, directing tonight’s episode, “Quiet Little Voices.”

Nichols admits that when he first got the script for his directorial debut, he was wary. “To be honest with you, I was a little disappointed,” he tells Zap2it. “They call it a ‘clip show’ — where you flash back to various moments in the series — and I was kind of disappointed that I wouldn’t get to direct an entire episode. The episode ended up being a lot more than a clip show, though.”

EW: Spoiler Room

Entertainment Weekly briefly mentions One Tree Hill in their Spoiler Room spot. Check out what Austin had to say to them:

So many rumours…but my question is clear: Is this One Tree Hill‘s last season? I grew up with the show, but since Joy, Sophia and James are done after this season. I don’t want the show to continue without them! — Ingmar
Sadly, the future is still in the air for One Tree Hill. In fact, Austin Nichols, who plays Julian, is in the dark as much as the rest of us. “I wish I knew more. I wish I knew it was going to be a series finale or just the end of the season,” he told us. Judging by the finale, it could go either way, he says. “I think Mark [Schwahn]’s really good at doing that, and I think that he can make an episode that does have closure but that can also plant seeds for the future,” he said. “I know that this happened to us last year as well. The end of season 7, he had an ending that was satisfying, he also had an ending that was an end. So we’ll see what he did this year, I definitely know that it’s going to be good, and the fans will love it.”

We’re feeling the same. We’d love for One Tree Hill wrap knowing it’s the last ever episode, just so everyone gets what they deserve.

The CW’s One Tree Hill has baby fever when it resumes its eighth season this Tuesday at 8/7c — with an episode directed by none other than series star Austin Nichols. And while Nathan and Haley’s bundle of joy will most certainly be welcomed into the world by episode’s end, poor Brooke and Julian won’t be so lucky… again. We’ve got a preview of the drama to come, plus exclusive behind-the-scenes pics of Nichols’ directorial debut.
