Sophia Bush and boyfriend Austin Nichols attend Global Green USA’s 11th Annual Sustainable Design Awards on Monday (December 6) at NYC’s Pier 60.
Earlier in the day, the One Tree Hill stars dropped by PIX11 Morning News to chat a bit about their CW show and also their latest project, the compilation CD Gasoline Rainbows.
One hundred percent of the proceeds of the album, which was released last week on iTunes, will go to Global Green to help those affected by the Gulf oil spill.
“If there’s anything we need to learn from what happened in the Gulf it’s that our reliance on dirty energy is risking not only human beings, but every living being on the planet,” Sophia told Zap2it.
FYI: Sophia is wearing a Jill Stuart dress, vintage House of Lavande necklace, Made Her Think earrings, and LAMB shoes.
As many of you may know, Austin and Sophia travelled to NYC this weekend to pick up their award from Global Green USA. Whilst there, they did a few interviews. Here’s a video of Austin and Sophia on PIX11 talking about their onscreen wedding and all their work in the Gulf, including Gasoline Rainbows.
Austin and Sophia’s joint venture for the gulf, Gasoline Rainbows was released today on iTunes in the US and Canada. It has already cracked the Top 10 on the Alternative Album Chart. After contacting Austin, we can confirm that it is currently only available in the US and Canada as it was causing some difficulty to get released elsewhere, however should it be successful he promised to try and get it released internationally.

Be sure to download your copy, here. Remember, all proceeds help support the Gulf!
As we posted earlier, Austin will be honoured with an ‘Entertainment Design’ award at the Global Green USA Sustainable Design Awards this year, alongside his girlfriend and fellow eco-warrior, Sophia Bush (article here).

The cover art for Gasoline Rainbows, Austin and Sophia’s benefit compilation for the Gulf, has been revealed by www.pitchfork.com.
Gasoline Rainbows will be available to download from iTunes from 30 November.
Rollingstone.com have posted a small article previewing Gasoline Rainbows. The article focuses on Damian Rice’s “Connoisseur of Great Excuse” which is track 6 on the album.
A group of actors and musicians have banded together with environmental non-profit Global Green USA to assemble Gasoline Rainbows, a compilation to benefit communities affected by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Now, you can watch an exclusive preview of the album: Damien Rice’s “Connoisseur of Great Excuse.”
The compilation was brought together by actors Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols, known for their roles on the hit show One Tree Hill, after they’d traveled with the Global Green organization to Grand Isle, Louisiana and seen the damage caused by the spill.
Rice’s track starts off gently and acoustically but gradually swells to include lush strings, horns and massed backing vocals that join him on the song’s keening melody for an dramatic finale.
