Austin is currently visiting Israel with America’s Voices.

America’s Voices in Israel is a pioneering program begun ten years ago to bolster Israel’s image in the United States by bringing traditional media and radio personalities to broadcast live from Israel.  It was re-organized in late 2010 under the leadership of Irwin Katsof and re-launched with a new, bolder approach.  America’s Voices now engages both traditional and “new media” mavens, high profile sports personalities and entertainers, key opinion molders, moderate Muslim leaders, diplomats, and other influential personalities whose first-hand experiences in Israel can provide an antidote to the distortions and misrepresentations about the Jewish state that are increasingly promulgated by those who seek to delegitimize and demonize Israel.

Travel magazines have long endorsed Israel as a major destination spot, now Hollywood seems to agree. America’s Voices in Israel is hosting another delegation of top US television stars in Israel this week.

Participants include Mary Lynn Rajskub, best known for her role opposite Keifer Sutherland in24; Greg Grunberg, co-star of the TV hits Heroes, Felicity, and 26 films including Star Trek, Mission Impossible and Austin Powers; Shaun Sipos, co-star of Melrose Place and CSI Crime Investigation; Justin Chatwin, co-star of the hit TV shows Shameless, Weeds, Lost and Taken; and Austin Nichols, best known for his role in the TV series, One Tree Hill.

America’s Voices in Israel is a program that brings media and entertainment personalities for personal experiences in Israel to help spread the country’s positive messages. In September, Twilight star Kellan Lutz took part in an AVI mission.

Earlier this week, the group met with film students at Sapir College.

Keep your eyes open for the celebrities at Tel Aviv’s beaches and restaurants, in Jerusalem’s Old City, up in the Golan Heights, climbing Masada and floating in the Dead Sea. Their itinerary also includes briefings from senior Israeli journalists, security experts, high-tech innovators and political leaders.

Austin wasfeatured in this month’s Coco Eco magazine alongside Sophia, Sharon and Daphne.

Austin popped in to KLTA this morning to talk about One Tree Hill, Beautiful Boy and the LA River Bike Ride (which he is Grand Marshall for, if you didn’t know! ;o) )  The clip is short, but it’s worth a watch and you can catch it here.

Austin’s just tweeted this video about the 11th LA River Ride on June 5th 2011. It’s…. amusing, to say the least and definitely worth a watch.

As we celebrate Earth Day (don’t forget to do your part to keep your carbon footprint low—be it recycling, changing your light bulbs or becoming involved with massive environmental efforts), we couldn’t help but think of some of our favorite celebs who give extra TLC to Mother Nature year round.

Thanks to his “One Tree Hill” co-star Sophia Bush, actor Austin Nichols has become involved in many environmental causes. In addition to getting the set of their television show to go green, Austin and Sophia went down to the Gulf coast after the disastrous oil spill to survey the damage and do their part to help.
